The Giving Bitch: new book available now!
This week I am thrilled to announce that my latest book, The Giving Bitch is available in both paperback and on kindle.
The genesis of the book was in a conversation about how to be a good neighbor and how we can love our neighbors – not always something that is easy to do! I shared that it is hard for me to show up with love in hard relationships, or really in any relationship, if I haven’t taken the time to care for myself and to make sure I am right in my relationship with God first. If I don’t do that work, I can get kind of bitchy and self-righteous about what I am doing, so even if what I am doing is objectively good it might not be done with good energy or spirit. I said something to the effect that I didn’t want to turn into “that giving bitch,” and so the title wrote the book.
I think a lot of us want to do good in the world, and a lot of us do a lot of good. I also think that we have to know that we deserve to receive good, that most of us have already received something good, and that we need to regularly take time for ourselves so that we come to our giving with a spirit of sharing, not obligation. It’s complicated – I say that a lot in the book – and I try to offer some tools for self-reflection and growth.
I hope you’ll check it out, I recommend the paper version because there are exercises that are easier on paper, right in-line with the text. The proceeds from sales are being given to my church so we can continue to be good givers, and if you like it please leave a review.
